NHK WORLD-JAPAN presents SONGS OF TOKYO showcases the latest in the Japanese music scene to the world. It has been airing since 2018 and became a regular feature since April 2019. The annual SONGS OF TOKYO Festival is set to air for the fifth year in a row.

Japanese music has been growing in popularity among international fans and now, Japan’s top artists will share their music and messages with a world fighting against the COVID-19 pandemic. It’s a chance to deliver warm words of encouragement through the power of music.

Instead of a live audience, the festival was held at the NHK studio with an online audience made up of J-POP fans from all over the world. The 17 groups all had a chance to communicate with them and experience their passion firsthand. It turned out to be a revolutionary digital music extravaganza that connected people through the power of music.

This symbolic event for the new era will be aired on NHK WORLD-JAPAN over four days, starting on November 20. It will be hosted by the regulars, Murakami Shingo and Horan Chiaki. Enjoy performances by Japan’s biggest artists.
